Ludwig Klein ( German: Ludwig Klein ; October 16, 1868, Augsburg - July 26, 1945, Bad Bevensen ) is a German mechanical engineer, professor and rector of the University of Hanover .

Biography
Ludwig Klein was born on October 16, 1868 in Augsburg; in 1901 he took up the position of full professor of general mechanics at the Royal Technical University in Hanover . After that, he lectured on the general theory of machines, drafting, on lifts and pumps, as well as on water, conveyor, air and construction equipment. Since 1910, he added a new lecture on conveyors (Förderanlagen für Massengüter) to the program: this topic formed a new research center in the department, which in 1930 became known as the Institute of Conveyors. In 1917, Klein received the title of Privy Councilor. From 1931 to 1933 he was rector of the University of Hanover. After the rise of the National Socialists , he actively promoted the National Socialist program at the university, including anti-Semitism : in particular, on the appeal of the exiled professor Hugo Kulka (Hugo Kulka, 1883-1933). On November 11, 1933, Klein was among the more than 900 scholars and professors at German universities and universities who signed the " Declaration of Professors Supporting Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist State "; in 1935 he retired - his successor was Albert Wirling (Albert Ludwig Vierling, 1899-1989). Ludwig Klein died on July 26, 1945 Bad Bevensen .
