Bulgarian white dairy goat is a Bulgarian breed of domestic goats . It is bred for milk , as well as meat and skins .
Distribution
Bulgarian white dairy is the most common goat breed in Bulgaria . It is bred in farms of all regions of the country. The breed was bred at the Institute of Mountain Livestock in Troyan as a result of crossing local goats with goats of the Zaanensky breed and subsequent targeted selection . Registered in 1992.
By 2008, the number of representatives of the breed exceeded 100 thousand individuals.
Description and characteristics of the breed
The body is harmonious, elongated, with a strong skeleton. The head is dry, elongated with a straight or slightly concave profile line. Ears of medium length are directed to the sides. Some individuals of both sexes have horns . Both goats and goats have two skin pendants (earrings) on the lower part of the neck. The udder of the goats is well developed, the nipples are of medium length, slightly protruding forward. The breed is suitable for machine milking .
The coat is white, thick and longer than that of the Saanen goat.
The weight of females 50-60 kg, males 70-60 kg. Fertility reaches 170-200%. The average milk yield per lactation period is 600-800 liters with a milk fat content of 3.5% and a protein content of 3.2%.
