Biography

He was born around 1564 in the Serbluzhitsky village of Grodzishcho in the family of a village headman. Received primary education in his native village. From 1576 to 1584 he studied in Budishin. From 1584 to 1586 he studied Lutheran theology at Wittenberg . Upon his return to Luzhitsa, he was ordained deacon in 1587. From 1589 until his death in 1618 he served as rector of the Lutheran parish in the village of Goji. He was superintendent of the Lutheran Serboluzhy parishes of Bischofswerd County.

In 1595 he published his own translation of the Small Catechism by Martin Luther in the Upper Luzhniki language with a parallel German text. This edition was the first printed book in the Upper Luzhniki language [3] .
