Biography
Anatoly Ivanovich Taskaev was born on February 9, 1944 in the city of Gudermes of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in a military personnel family.
In 1947 , the family moved to his homeland, in the village of Yb in the Syktyvdinsky district , and in 1949 - in Syktyvkar [1] .
After graduating from school with a gold medal, in 1962 he entered the Physics Department of Moscow State University. During his studies at the university in 1968, he published his first article, Neutron Resonances of Neodymium Isotopes, in the journal Nuclear Physics . The head of the thesis project of Anatoly Taskaev was Ilya Mikhailovich Frank [2] .
After graduation, in 1968 he was enrolled in the position of acting Junior Scientific Institute of Biology, Komi Branch, USSR Academy of Sciences .
In 1979 , under the leadership of Rudolf Mikhailovich Aleksakhin and Natalya Alekseevna Titaeva, he defended his thesis on the specialty “Radiobiology”, “Patterns of Distribution and Migration of Uranium, Thorium, Radium, and Radon in the Soil and Plant Cover of the Area of Increased Natural Radiation” [2] .
From 1977 to 1979 , he served as the head of the laboratory of radiochemical and radiophysical research, from 1979 to 1980 he headed the laboratory of environmental dosimetry and radiochemistry, and from 1984 to 2010 he headed the department of radioecology [1] [2] .
In 1988 he became director of the Institute of Biology of the Komi Scientific Center, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
In 2006 , he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
He died suddenly on November 17, 2010 at a meeting of young scientists of the Institute.
Scientific Achievements
He studied the migration of heavy natural radionuclides . For the first time, he studied the complete isotopic composition of uranium , thorium, and radon in soils, plants, and organisms of mouse rodents in territories with an increased natural background of radiation. He proposed algorithms for constructing maps of gamma radiation fields , dose loads for plants and animals. He developed and put into practice radioecological research cartographic and statistical methods for describing the geochemical and radiation conditions [3] [4] . He developed methods for automating the processing of experimental data, modified instruments for gamma-spectrometric analyzes. For the first time in the practice of radioecological research, he used the method of isotope ratios in the soil – plant system [2] . Under the leadership of A. I. Taskaev and G. M. Kozubov , more than 20 complex expeditions to the 30-km zone of the Chernobyl accident were made , which made it possible to give qualified recommendations for improving the radiation situation in the Chernobyl accident zone [5] . According to the results of these studies, more than 10 monographs were published.
Under his leadership, the republican target programs “Ecology 2005”, “Clean Pechora”, “Automated Geographic Information Cadastral System of the Republic of Komi”, “Radon”, “Protecting the environment and the population from dioxin-like toxicants” [1] were implemented, new methods of remediation were developed disturbed territories, studies of reforestation processes in the North were expanded. He coordinated research on the inventory of the biological diversity of the specially protected natural territories of the Komi Republic [6] [7] [8] and the maintenance of the Red Book of the Komi Republic [9] [10] .
For many years he was a member of the Scientific Council on Radiation Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Joint Scientific Council for Biological Sciences of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences , the Interagency Coordinating Council for Science under the Head of the Komi Republic, the board of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Komi Republic, the Commission on Natural and Productive Forces of the Republic Komi, the International Academy of environmental Protection Sciences, the International Union of Radioecology, the deputy chief editor of " Theoretical and prick adnaya ecology ", a member of the editorial board of the journal" Radiation Biology. Radioecology ”and“ Bulletin of the Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences ” [1] [5] .
The author of more than 430 scientific papers, including 23 monographs and four patents for inventions.
