Biography
Little information has been preserved about Yakima Samchenko. It is known that in October 1685, the ruler of the Podolsk ejalet, Mustafa Bozoklu Pasha, instructed Soltan-kalsi and the son of the Crimean Khan Selim I Geraya Devlet Gerai to “besiege the hetman Samchenko” in Nemirov instead of the deceased Theodor Sulimenko . It is likely that Yakim Samchenko managed to prove himself well in wars, since the choice fell on him [1] .
The son of the Crimean Khan Selim I - Devlet Gerey ordered the new hetman to go to Nemirov in 12 days and gave 20,000 of his people to help them, together with the Cossacks, conquer Nemirov, the capital of Right-Bank Ukraine , where hetman Andrey Mogila settled. However, this military campaign ended unsuccessfully. During the next attack on Nemirov in December 1685, Samchenko died [2] .
