Biography

Willy Kolz was born on February 27, 1887 in Bersov in the family of the farmer (owner of the farm) Wilhelm Kolts and his wife Eliza Marie Louise (nee Dussel). Willy studied at a real gymnasium in Schönberg , received a certificate of maturity at a real gymnasium in Bersov, after which he became a student in Berlin and Rostock: he studied German studies , modern languages ​​and history. In 1910, he passed the state exam and, in 1913, defended his dissertation in Rostock in the dialects of western Mecklenburg . After participating in the First World War , Kolz worked as a teacher in Rostock. From 1926 - and until his death in 1942 - he directed the Rostock Pedagogical Institute (Hochschule für Lehrerbildung, HfL), where he mainly trained elementary school teachers. From 1929 to 1934, Kolz was an honorary professor of pedagogy at Rostock University - although he had virtually no scientific publications.

On October 1, 1931, Kolz became a member of the NSDAP : until 1933, he was one of only two members of the National Socialist Party among professors of Rostock. He also taught at the Nazi-socialist advanced training school [2] . On November 11, 1933, Willy Kolz was among the more than 900 scholars and professors at German universities and universities who signed the " Statement of Professors Supporting Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist State ." He died on January 9, 1942 in Rostock.
