Friedrich Ludwig Wilhelm Kolbeck ( German: Friedrich Ludwig Wilhelm Kolbeck ; January 12, 1860, Dresden - February 6, 1943, Freiberg , Saxony) - German mineralogist , professor and rector of the Mining Academy in Freiberg [2] [3] [4] .

Biography

After attending the Annenschule School in Dresden, from 1879 to 1883, Friedrich Kolbeck was a student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Leipzig ; his teachers included Ferdinand Zirkel , Gustav Heinrich Wiedemann , Joseph August Schenck , Rudolph Leikart and Wilhelm Maximilian Wundt . In 1883, under the leadership of Circus, Kolbek defended his thesis.

In the same year, 1883, he moved to the Department of Engineering at the Freiberg Mining Academy and became a member of the student fraternity “Franconia Friberg” (Corps Franconia Fribergensis zu Aachen). On October 1, 1884, Kolbek was appointed assistant, and on October 1, 1893 he became an assistant professor. In 1896, he became a professor in Freiburg: he became a full professor of mineralogy in 1901, replacing Albin Julius Weisbach (1833-1901). From 1913 to 1915, and then from 1922 to 1923, Kolbek was also the rector of the Mining Academy; retired on March 31, 1928. On November 11, 1933, Friedrich Kolbeck was among the more than 900 scholars and teachers of German universities and universities who signed the " Statement of professors on the support of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist State ."
