The freeform was created in an attempt to give the English happy hardcore a more serious and diverse sound, during the crisis of the latter. As a result, a style appeared consisting of elements of almost all other basic styles of dance electronics on a dense and fast rhythmic basis.
The flagship of the freeform is the Nu Energy Collective label alliance, as well as the group of the same name (Kevin Energy, Sharkey, AMS, K-Complex, Arkitech). Kevin Energy is the main promoter of this music and, in fact, the person who created it in the form in which it currently exists.
A separate subgenre can be distinguished Finnish (psychedelic) freeform, faster and more likely reminiscent of an overclocked psychedelic trance.
The closest sounding styles are the modern UK Hardcore, the Dutch transcore of the 2nd half of the 90s, and the English hardtrans.
