Biography
Wlodzimierz Brodowski was born on December 6, 1823 in the Minsk Region [1] . He was a graduate of the Minsk gymnasium. In 1848 he graduated from the Medical College in Moscow . For a year after graduating from college, he worked in Moscow as an assistant in one of the city gynecological clinics. Later he had medical practice in the cities of Bila Tserkva , Brusilov ( Volyn province ) and Lysyanka ( Kiev province ). Since 1855 he studied pathological anatomy in Vienna , Würzburg and Paris . After returning to Russia, he again worked in Lysyanka, then got a job as a doctor in the Uyazdovsky hospital in Warsaw . In 1862, he was appointed associate professor of pathological anatomy at the Medical and Surgical Academy in Warsaw. Later, he was also a teacher at the Warsaw Main School for some time, after which he transferred to work at the Imperial University of Warsaw , where in 1864 he became an associate professor, and in 1865 - an ordinary professor. Since 1869, Brodsky served as dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Warsaw. He was also the permanent secretary of the Warsaw Society of Physicians , which included leading Polish medical scientists. In addition, he was a philanthropist and served as chairman of the Warsaw Charity Society .
He was an honorary member of the Polish Society of Physicians . In 1900, Brodsky was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow for his services in the pedagogical and scientific fields [2] .
He died on October 27, 1903 at the age of 79 years [3] [1] .
Brodovsky’s students were many famous Polish doctors and scientists: Cheslav Khentsinsky , , , and other prominent doctors [2] .
