In 1229, during the Sixth Crusade, Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen negotiated the return of the city of Thoron to the crusaders. One of the heirs of Onfroix IV , the last prince of Thoron before his conquest by Saladin , was Mary of Antioch, as the great-granddaughter of Isabella of Torons, wife of Tsar Cilicia Ruben III . She got the principality.
In 1248, in the same capacity (as the great-granddaughter of Ruben III ), unsuccessfully claimed the throne of the Cilician kingdom.
