Bretonsel (canton)

The canton was formed as a result of the reform of 2015 ^[1] . It included the communes of the abolished cantons of Nose and Remalar .

Since January 1, 2016, the composition of the canton has changed. The communes of Boisset-Mogi , Mezon-Mogi and Saint-Maurice-sur-Yueen formed the new commune of Cour-Mougis-sur-Uine ; the communes of Danset , Colonar-Coruber , Nose , Preo du Perche , Saint-Jean-de-la-Foret and Saint-Aubin-de-Gruy - the new commune of Persche-en-Nose ; the communes of Bella-sur-Yuin , Dorso and Remalard — the new commune of Remalard-en-Persh ; the communes of Conde-sur-Yuin , Condo and Coulogne-le-Sablon - the new commune of Sablon-sur-Yuin .

The canton consists of communes (population according to the National Institute of Statistics for 2015 ):

• Bretonsel (1 464 people)
• Verrier (423 people)
• Chur-Mougis-sur-Youin (626 people)
• La Madeleine-Bouvet (407 people)
• Moutiers aux Perts (421 people)
• Persh-en-Nose (2,133 people)
• Remalard-en-Persh (1 978 people)
• Sablon-sur-Juin (2 150 people)
• Saint-Germain-de-Grois (236 people)
• Saint-Pierre-la-Bruyeres (453 people)
• Saint-Cyr-la-Rosiere (240 people)

In the 2017 presidential election, canton residents cast 26.2% of the vote in the 1st round of Marin Le Pen versus 25.9% of Francois Fillon , 18.9% of Emmanuel Macron and 15.2% of Jean-Luc Melanson ; in the 2nd round, Macron won the canton, receiving 57.7% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Nicolas Sarkozy - 30.8%, Marine Le Pen - 22.5%, Francois Hollande - 21.5%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 56.5%).

Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Orne Department by the mayor of the Verrier commune, Jean-Michel Bouvier, and the vice-mayor of the associate commune, Colonar-Coruber, Séverine Yvard (both are Miscellaneous Rights ).
