Seagull, Vladimir Pavlovna

Volodymyr Pavlovna Chaika ( April 2, 1928 , the village of Shili, Ternopil Oblast - November 21, 2015, Lviv) - Ukrainian opera singer (lyric-coloratura soprano), teacher, professor of the Lviv State Music Academy named after N.V. Lysenko. The wife of the sculptor Jacob Chaika. Honored Artist of the USSR (1977), People's Artist of Ukraine (04/11/2008).

Biography

Vladimir Pavlovna Chaika was born on April 2, 1928 in the village. Shili Ternopil region. From 1942 to 1943 she studied at the Ternopil Ukrainian gymnasium. In 1947 she graduated from the teacher training college in the city of Kremenets , the philological faculty of the Lviv University (1952, now the national university), the Lviv Conservatory (1963, now the Lviv National Music Academy named after Nikolai Lysenko ; class P. Karmalyuk) [1] .

Since 1952, she worked as a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature in a secondary school in Lviv, was a soloist in the choir of the Teacher’s House. From 1963 to 1985 - soloist of the Lviv Opera House.

Since 1981 he has been working as a teacher of solo singing at the Lviv Academy of Music, professor of the department of academic singing (2001).

Among the students of Chaika are S. Siegel-Decar, the performer of the role of S. Krushelnitskaya in the play “Solomiya Krushelnitskaya” by B. Melnichuk and I. Litovsky in the Ternopol Regional Drama Theater.

Family

Vladimir Pavlovna Chaika was married to the sculptor Jacob Chaika. Their daughter married the architect I. Nakonechny. Granddaughter Marta and great-grandson Yuri live in Italy. Grandson Roman tragically died at the age of 18.
