Petratos’s father, Angelo, was the defender of the Sydney Olympic Club. Costa 's younger brother is also a professional footballer.
Club career
Petratos is a graduate of the Sydney club from his hometown. November 7, 2010 in a match against the Newcastle United Jets, he made his debut in the A-League [2] . On January 8, 2011, in a duel against Gold Coast United , Dimitri scored his first goal for Sydney [3] . In early 2013, Petratos went to the Malaysian Kelantan for six months, and returned to his homeland in the summer, becoming a Brisbane Roar player. On October 19, in a match against his former Sydney club, he made his debut for a new team [4] . On December 26, in a duel against Sydney, Dimitri made a hat-trick , scoring his first goals for Brisbane Roar [5] . In 2014, he helped the team win the championship .
In early 2017, Petratos moved to the South Korean Ulsan Hyundai . In a match against the Pohang Steelers , he made his K-League debut .
In the same year, Dimitri returned to Australia, signing a two-year contract with the Newcastle United Jets . On October 7, in a match against the Central Coast Mariners , he made his debut for a new team [6] . In the same match, Petratos scored his first goal for the Newcastle United Jets.
International Career
In 2011, as part of the Australian youth team, Petratos took part in the Youth World Championships in Colombia . At the tournament, he played in matches against teams of Ecuador [7] , Costa Rica [8] and Spain [9] .
On March 23, 2018, in a friendly match against the Norwegian national team, Petratos made his debut for the Australian national team [10] . In the same year, Dimitri took part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia . At the tournament he was a substitute and did not enter the field.
