History
In August 2017, Yandex and Sberbank signed an agreement to create a joint venture based on the Yandex.Market service, focused on the purchase and sale of goods via the Internet [4] .
On April 4, 2018, the deal was agreed by the Federal Antimonopoly Service [5] .
On April 27, 2018, Yandex and Sberbank closed a deal to create a joint venture, the cost of which was estimated at 60 billion rubles. In addition to the creation and development of the marketplace, cooperation involves two more areas of activity - the development of the cross-border online trading segment and the continued development of Yandex.Market [6] .
On May 21, 2018, a test version of the Beru marketplace was launched. In the beta version , about 25 thousand positions were available in six categories of goods (electronics, computer and household appliances, home and summer cottage, children's goods, beauty and health, pet products). In June, the number of positions reached 50 thousand [7] .
Also in May 2018, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - 2018, an agreement was signed with the pharmaceutical company Protek , which will ensure the appearance of pharmaceutical and other pharmacy products in the Beru marketplace [8] .
Until the end of 2018, it is planned to increase the number of commodity items to 150 thousand. In addition to medicines, FMCG , food, clothing, books, furniture, auto parts and so on will appear. [9] .
On October 24, 2018, the official launch of the marketplace took place. After exiting the beta version, the loyalty program “Take Bonuses” appeared on the service [10] .
Activities
“I take” - a marketplace. This format involves an online platform where users can make purchases from multiple sellers. The owner of the marketplace acts as an intermediary: places the goods of other companies on his website and attracts buyers [11] .
Products on the marketplace may belong to partner stores or to the service itself. Stores post information about their products on the marketplace, use logistic services. Delivery is carried out by courier services with which the marketplace has concluded an agreement. Storage of goods is provided through contractors and in their own warehouses of the marketplace. In addition to the site, the service is also available through applications for devices with Android and iOS [12] .
Delivery from the Beru website will be free for orders starting at 3,500 rubles, with a Yandex.Plus subscription, delivery becomes free if there is at least one product in the basket at least 500 rubles, the courier service will cost 249 rubles, for 99 rubles you can pick up the parcel at the pickup point [13] .
According to the statement of the Yandex.Market General Director, points of delivery of goods ordered for Beru may appear in Sberbank branches. Also, as part of the service, it is planned to create a mechanism for convenient registration of installments online [14] .
