Biography

He was born in 1836 into a peasant family in the Serbluzhitsky village of Svinjarnia. After graduating from high school in Khroschitsy, he studied at the gymnasium in Budyshyn . From 1849 to 1859 he studied at the Luzhitsky Seminary in Prague . In the same place in 1855 he graduated from the Malostranska gymnasium , after which until 1859 he studied theology at Charles University . As a student in Prague, he published his articles in the literary magazine Łužičan and the newspaper Katolski Posoł .

On November 9, 1859 he was ordained a priest, after which he served in Kamenets and in 1860-1861 in Kulovo . From 1861 to 1869 - a preacher in St. Peter's Basilica in Budyshyn. In 1862, together with the writer Michal Gornik, he founded the Society of Saints Cyril and Methodius and in November 1867, the Society of Catholic Artisans. In 1860, the cultural and educational organization “ Mother of Serbia ” entered. Since 1862 he was a member of the board of this organization. In 1863 he was a chaplain of patients in Sherachov and in 1866 a military chaplain of the Saxon military unit. Since 1869 he served as administrator of the parish in Votrov , where in 1871 he was appointed rector . Since 1889 - an honorary canon.

Since 1866, he was the confessor of the Saxon army, for which, under the reign of King Alberta, he was awarded the Albrecht cross (silver badge of the Order of Albert ) and under the reign of Frederick Augustus III in 1907, the same order of the first degree.

He took an active part in the public life of the Serbluzhitsky people. In 1891 he founded the Society for Assistance to Serboluzhitsky Students (Pomocy za studowacych Serbow), was one of the founders of the Serboluzhitsky house . He supported the publication of the literary magazine Łužica . Published a collection of poems by Yakub Bart-Chishinsky .

After retiring in 1910, he lived in Vorkletsy.
