They live on the island of New Guinea (in both parts of the island belonging to both Papua New Guinea and Indonesia ), as well as on two nearby Indonesian islands of Waigeo and Salavati , at an altitude of 1350 m above sea level. In 2001, Bergmans described a new species of Paranyctimene tenax in the genus of dwarf tubular-winged bats [2] ( Paranyctimene ), but because of the similarity of the species, scientists have not yet set the exact boundaries of their ranges [3] , so most of the accumulated information relates to both species.
They live in primary and secondary tropical rainforests, gardens and swamps. The female carries one cub. Pregnant females were observed in January, February, April, May, July, August and September [3] .
The 2018 dwarf tubular-nosed winged wing is not one of the species that is at substantial risk of extinction [3] .
