Dolores Hidalgo ( Spanish: Dolores Hidalgo ), full official name: Dolores Hidalgo Cuna de la Independencia Nacional ( Spanish Dolores Hidalgo Cuna de la Independencia Nacional ) is a municipality in Mexico , Guanajuato , with an administrative center in the city of the same name . The population according to the 2010 census was 148 173 people.

Content
General information
Until 1947, the municipality was called Cocomacán , which can be translated from the Purepecha language as a place for hunting for doves . Then it was renamed the Dolores Hidalgo Cuna de la Independencia Nacional in a sign that the priest Miguel Hidalgo in the church of Grido Dolores gave rise to the beginning of the war of independence [3] .
The area of the municipality is 1656 km², which is 5.41% of the total state area [4] , and the highest point is located in the settlement of La Penitita and is 2323 meters [1] .
Dolores Hidalgo borders with other municipalities in the state of Guanajuato : in the north with San Diego de la Union , in the east with San Luis de la Paz , in the south with San Miguel de Allende , in the west with Guanajuato , and in the northwest with San Felipe .

According to statistics from 2000, the working population is employed by sectors of the economy in the following proportions: agriculture, livestock and fishing - 18.6%, industry and construction - 37.6%, services and tourism - 40.3%, etc. - 3.5% [4] .
Infrastructure
According to 2010 statistics, the infrastructure is developed as follows [4] :
- electrification: 95.3%;
- water supply: 94.5%;
- water disposal: 77%.
