Biography

Franz Xavier Heidingsfelder was born on December 2, 1882 in Weisendorf: today it is part of Wolframs -Eschenbach . After graduating from high school, Heidingsfeld studied Catholic theology and was ordained priest at Eichstett . However, after a year of church activity, he continued his studies: he began to study history at the University of Würzburg . In 1911, under the leadership of Anton Khrust (Anton Julius Chroust, 1864-1945), he defended his thesis on the history of the Eikhstetskogo principality-bishopric : "Conditions in Eikhshtetskogo principality in the late Middle Ages and the causes of the peasant war ."

After that Franz Haydingsfelder worked in the "Society of Frankish history» (Gesellschaft für fränkische Geschichte) at the episcopal archive (Regesta) in Eichstätt, until in 1915 was appointed Professor of Church History and Art in high school, is a precursor of Philosophy and Theology of the University of Regensburg ( Philosophisch-theologische Hochschule Regensburg). On November 11, 1933, Franz Heidingsfelder was among more than 900 scholars and teachers of German universities and universities who signed the “ Statement of Professors for the Support of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist State ”. From 1937 to 1939, Haidingsfelder was the rector of the university; He died on February 7, 1942.
