Sthenoteuthis is a genus of cephalopods from the order of ten - armed family Ommastrephidae. It is part of the subfamily Ommastrephinae. The genus contains two species [1] . These are the dominant species of Ommastrephidae in tropical and subtropical seas, and they are usually seen on the surface of the ocean at night. The length of their mantle varies from 10 cm to 60 cm [2] .
