Eduard Dmitrievich Pleske ( German: Eduard Theodor Pleske ; October 25, 1852 - April 26, 1904) - Russian statesman. Privy Councilor (since 1896). Governor of the State Bank of the Russian Empire (1894-1903). Minister of Finance of Russia (1903-1904). In 1904 he was appointed a member of the Council of State .

Biography
Born into the family of Eduard Ludwigovich Pleske (1817–1873), an officer in various combat engineer divisions, and then an officer in the command of command, and his wife Margarita Elizaveta Oom (1822–1880), daughter of a teacher Anna Oom ; brother of the zoologist Fedor Pleske [1] .
Educated at the Imperial Alexander Lyceum in St. Petersburg .
Upon leaving the lyceum with a small gold medal and the rank of IX class, he entered the service, at the beginning of 1873, at the Ministry of Finance, in which he passed all the degrees of the service hierarchy. The first half of his career, in the salary department, he took place "in a black body", and only in March 1888 was appointed vice-director of this department. A year after this, Eduard Dmitrievich was transferred to the credit office first as a vice director, and in early 1892 he occupied an important and influential position as director of this office. With the transfer to the credit office, Eduard Dmitrievich became one of the closest employees of the then Minister of Finance I.A. Vyshnegradsky on all kinds of loans. [2]
From 1894 to 1903 he was the manager of the State Bank of the Russian Empire .
Pleske was a man more cultured, more capable, with a great deal of endurance, very clean, honest and noble, but with a German mind, which has the advantage that it limits the flight of thought, and on the other hand, the disadvantage that people with German the mind often lacks the proper flight of thought.

On August 16 (29), 1903 he was appointed manager of the Ministry of Finance, replacing Sergey Witte . However, six months later, on February 4, 1904, he resigned due to illness, and Vladimir Kokovtsov , who replaced him, was married to his cousin Anna Oom.
