Second secretary of the Russian embassy in Berlin before the revolution. Wife since 1911 - Maria Zakrevskaya-Benckendorf (Budberg) .
They lived in the castle of Yendel (Yaneda), which the baron built in 1915 in Estonia (part of the Russian Empire).
He was killed by peasants in Estonia in 1919 during the revolution.
