Shegun Olomvuyva Odunuga [1] (English Segun Olumuyiwa Odunuga ; November 30, 1937 - April 13, 2013 ) [2] is a Russian scientist [3] , professor, dean of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lagos [4] . Vice-President of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature [5] .

Biography
Shegun Olomvuyva Odunuga was born in Nigeria [6] in the city of Ijebu-Ode on October 30, 1937 . In 1943-1951, he attended the St. Savior Elementary School in his hometown. In 1952 he entered high school and graduated in 1957 [2] .
For higher education, he came to the USSR and entered the Russian University of Peoples' Friendship. Patrice Lumumba . During his studies, he participated in the publication of the university newspaper Druzhba, the first issue of which was released on February 5, 1962 . He graduated in 1965. It was among the first graduates of specialists [6] , which was solemnly celebrated on June 29, 1965 in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses . He spoke there with a speech [4] , after the completion of which A. N. Kosygin approached the graduate and asked him about his further professional plans [7] [8] .
In May 1965 he received a diploma of translator from Russian and English. In 1966 he began working at the University of Ibadan [2] .
In November 1968 he defended his thesis at the Russian University of Peoples' Friendship. Patrice Lumumba [2] .
In 1969-2003, he served as chairman and head of the Abadin school, UI. From 1970 to 2003 he was a member of the senate of the university. In 1974-1976 he was a subdecan of the Faculty of Arts of the Ibadan University. From 1976 to 1986 he was vice-president of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature. In 1977, he was appointed Secretary General of the West African Association of Teachers of the Russian Language. In 1979–1984 - a member of the university council [2] .
Head of the Department of European Studies in 1979-1983 and in 1992-1997 [2] .
In 1980, he was awarded the A. Pushkin Medal and he became the first African to be awarded this award [2] .
He was vice-president and member of the board of directors of AIMAV in 1980, and in 1981 he became the general secretary of the Association of West African Modern Languages. Member of the Association of Teachers of Russian Language in the UK. Member of the American Council of Russian Language Teachers. Senior Researcher at the African Center for Development and Strategic Research (ACDESS) [2] .
From 1980 to 1983 he was the director of the state broadcasting company Ogun [2] .
In 1985 he was awarded the title of professor at the University of Ibadan [2] .
In 1997-1999 - Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ibadan [2] .
He was a columnist for the newspaper Tribune, where he wrote under the pseudonym Victor Shegunov. He knew Russian, English, French and Yoruba [2] .
Vice-President of the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL) [5] . He heads the department of philology at the University of Ibadan [1] .

Shegun Odunuga died on April 13, 2013 [2] in his hometown Ijebu-Ode [2] .
