Boris Semenovich Figotin (b. October 16, 1923 - died January 13, 1998 ) - Soviet and Russian composer. People's Artist of the Russian Federation (1995).

Biography

Boris Semenovich Figotin was born on October 16, 1923 in Gomel.

In 1933, his family moved to Moscow, where Boris independently learned to play the accordion and was so successful that he was invited to the orchestra performing in the Lyubertsy movie theater. In 1939, the skill of the young musician allowed him to perform on the stage of the Metropol, along with the orchestras of A. Tsfasman and A. Varlamov.

In 1941, Figotin volunteered for the front, leaving for a while music that he only returned to in the hospital after being wounded in 1944. After the war, B. Figotin worked in the Jazz Accordion orchestra under the Central House of Artists, his stage partners were Jan Frenkel and Vladimir Shainsky . Vocational training continued at the School of Music at the Moscow Conservatory , and upon its completion (1952), and at the conservatory at Yu. Shaporin [1] .

In 1954, he organized and headed the first step youth pop orchestra at the Central House of Arts. At that time, Leonid Utyosov , Klavdia Shulzhenko , Leonid Kostritsa , later Lyudmila Zykina , Maya Kristalinskaya , Irina Brzhevskaya , Valentina Tolkunova sang his songwriter's talent as a musician.

In addition to songs, the composer created symphonic and chamber works, plays for the orchestra of folk instruments and groups of V. Ludvikovsky and Yu. Silantyev. He was busy with administrative work [2] .

The composer passed away on January 13, 1998.
