The Decree of the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region No. 859-ПП dated December 28, 2001 was given the status of an architectural monument of regional significance [2] .
Content
History
The apartment building belonged to the Grachev family, father and son, Vasily Ivanovich and Ivan Vasilyevich. The main source of investment in the building was the proceeds from the grain trade.
The building was nationalized in the late 1920s and it housed a tailor’s workshop for 25 jobs. Subsequently, the building had a savings bank, house management, from 1925 to 1973 the editorial office of the newspaper "Red North".
Now the building houses a library collector [3] .
Architecture
The two-storey rectangular building is located in the historic part of the city in Old Kamensk. The mansion is built along the north-south axis, the main one is the southern facade facing Lenin Street (formerly Bolshaya Moskovskaya) [4] .
The building was made of brick, on the first tier there was a small pharmacy shop, on the second one there were living rooms [4] .
The composition of the first floor is typical for the stores of the second half of the XIX century, a three-part symmetrical scheme was applied, with the entrance to the trading floor in the center, and the windows at the edges [4] .
The mansion is made in eclectic style with elements of brick style. The main facade is symmetrical. The corners of the facades are decorated with paddles that go into the interfloor belt. On the second floor they are decorated with double pilasters, which are also used in the design of the pier. On the second floor there are five identical windows. Cornice profiled with a wide ledge. The upper part is completed with a gable attic and parapet columns in the form of towers. The towers are decorated with a belt of lancet-shaped arches. On the inner field of the gable there is an entry with the date of construction of the house: “1907” [4] .
