Geography

Located on the M-7 Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod highway, 57 km west of Nizhny Novgorod , 10 km north-west of the district center - the city of Volodarsk .

History

In 1965, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, the village of Smolino 2nd was renamed Novosmolinsky [2] .

On July 27, 1998, the major of the tank division Igor Belyaev led a tank into the central square of Novosmolino, protesting against the non-payment of salaries. The "rebellious" act received the support of local residents and colleagues. After negotiations with the authorities, salary debts were paid off, and Igor Belyaev extended the contract for military service. [3]

Infrastructure

The village is conditionally divided into the "old town" (Shosseynaya street) and the "new town" (Tankovaya street). The quarters of the “new town” were built in 1993-1994 by the Finnish general contractor with funding from the Federal Republic of Germany. [five]

No industrial facilities. The main employer is military units and institutions of the Ministry of Defense of Russia [6] . In the village, a T-34-85 tank of 1945 release was installed on a pedestal - a memorial to lower Dnieper tankers [7] , as well as an obelisk for servicemen of the 245th guards. motorized rifle regiment , who died in the Chechen Republic in 1994-2001.

In 2015, the Orthodox Church named after the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky Vyksa diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church was consecrated.
