Biography
Michael Graves was born on January 8, 1991 in Momi , Ohio , USA . While studying at a local high school, he was seriously engaged in wrestling , since 2009 he trained as a mixed-style fighter, in 2010 he began performing in the MMA at an amateur level. He trained at the American Top Team [1] .
Beginning of a professional career
He made his debut in mixed martial arts among professionals in February 2013, sent his opponent to the knockout in the first round. Having won three fights in Fort Lauderdale at the Fight Time and MTC small promotion tournaments, in October 2014 he fought in the fairly large American organization Titan Fighting Championships , where he also won.
The Ultimate Fighter
Having four wins and not a single defeat in his track record, in February 2015, Graves took part in the 21st season of the popular fighting reality show The Ultimate Fighter - this season the American Top Team fighters opposed the representatives of the Blackzilians team [2] . As a result, he spent two fights as part of the show, lost the decision of the majority of judges to Camar Usman and won by surrender to Jason Jackson [3] [4] .
Ultimate Fighting Championship
Thanks to his successful performance on the TUF show, Graves got the opportunity to sign a contract with the largest fighting organization in the world, the Ultimate Fighting Championship - at the final tournament of the show in July 2015, he met with Brazilian Vicente Luca and won against him by unanimous judicial decision [5] .
His next rival was to be Danny Roberts , but due to an injury Graves was forced to withdraw from the tournament and was replaced by Nathan Koi [6] .
He returned to the UFC octagon only in the spring of 2016, in the middle of the second round with the help of a choking reception from behind, he made Randy Brown surrender [7] . Later, he fought with a Serb Boyan Velichkovich - the confrontation between them lasted all the allotted time, as a result, by a decision of two judges, a draw was recorded (score 30-27, 28-28, 28-28) [8] .
In November 2016, it was planned to fight against the Brazilian Sergio Morais , but in October Graves was removed from the tournament due to arrest on charges of domestic violence [9] [10] . Since then, he was no longer able to take part in any of the tournaments, and in April 2017 the organization announced his dismissal [11] .
Fight Nights Global
In the same 2017, he signed a contract with a large Russian organization Fight Nights Global . In September, in a duel with Nikolai Aleksakhin, he lost by technical knockout in the third round, thereby having suffered the first defeat in his professional career.
In May 2018, he drew a duel against another Russian fighter Murat Khasanov.
