Winifred Merrill ( Eng. Winifred Merrill , married since 1961; Warren , Eng. Warren ; July 24, 1898 , Atlanta - March 11, 1990 ) - American violinist. The daughter of B.W. Merrill .

She graduated from the Institute of Musical Art in New York , a student of Edouard Detier and Franz Kneisel , also studied theory and composition under the leadership of Percy Götchiusa . Later she also studied in Paris with Nadi Boulanger [1] .
Since 1926, for several decades, she taught at the School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington . In 1928, together with two other professors, Lennart von Zweigberg (cello) and Ernest Hofzimmer (piano), formed the International Trio [2] . She also performed with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra . In 1944 she performed a recital in Carnegie Hall [3] . Three albums recorded by Merrill in the 1940-50s, with sonatas by I.S. Bach , L. van Beethoven , S.S. Prokofiev , P. Hindemith and others for violin and piano (pianists Robert Walter and Frederick Baldwin ), have not been published and are archived by Indiana University.
She also published a book of short stories ( Eng. The Arthur Stories ; 1987).
