Biography

Born in 1899 in the village of Gverstyanka now in the Krestetsky district of the Leningrad region.

Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1919. From the same year he served in the Red Army . Member of the Civil War, which he finished as commissar of the regiment. Then he switched to rear and financial work and in 1938 he graduated from the Military-Economic Academy of the Red Army (now the Military Academy of Logistics of the Name of A. V. Khrulyov ).

During the Great Patriotic War, Spiridonov headed the financial departments of the Northern (June-August 1941) and Leningrad (August 1941 - July 1945) fronts. In July 1945, the Leningrad Front was transformed into the Leningrad Military District , where Sergei Vasilievich continued to serve as head of the financial department of the district.

When on September 20, 1947, the Deputy Minister of the Armed Forces of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union A.M. Vasilevsky and USSR Minister of Higher Education S.V. Kaftanov signed a joint order on the organization of the Military Faculty at the Moscow Finance Institute (now the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation ), an experienced financier, Major General Major Vasilyevich Spiridonov, was appointed head of the department. [2] Spiridonov took over the faculty in early June 1948. Previous experience helped him overcome the first difficulties of the economic establishment of the university. However, he did not manage the faculty for long. During the " Leningrad affair " he had problems due to belonging to the name of Spiridonov and began to torment him. He was saved by Lieutenant General Yakov Alekseevich Khotenko - Head of the Central Financial Department of the Ministry of Defense, transferring Sergey Vasilyevich to the post of deputy head of the university in 1949. [3]

He died in 1956.

He was awarded the orders of Lenin, Red Banner, Red Star and World War II 1st and 2nd degrees. Among the medals are "XX years of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army" and "For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."
