.pl ( .PL ) is the national top-level domain for Poland , introduced in 1990 [1] . The registrar is the Scientific and Academic Computer Network [1] - Member of the Council of European National Registrars of Top-Level Domains .

Any natural or legal person from any country can become a second-level domain administrator in the .pl zone, however, those who need to “describe their rights to use this domain name” .
The maximum number of characters that can be used in a .pl domain is 63 [2] , and the minimum is 3.
Content
History
The domain zone .pl has been open for registration since 1990, when COCOM relaxed its restrictions on the Warsaw Pact countries .
The first registered second level domain in the .pl zone is pwr.pl. It belongs to the Wroclaw Polytechnic University .
Since 2003, internationalized domain names have become available for registration in the .pl domain zone.
Statistics
The .pl zone crossed the line into 1 million registered names on May 6, 2008 [1] [3] . For 2010, 2 million second-level names were registered in the domain zone .pl [1] .
In 2011, the .pl domain ranked fifth among all national top-level domains in terms of the number of registered names (2,137,522 in the first half of the year) [2] . At the same time, he was considered the absolute leader in terms of growth from 254 thousand registered new domains.
By the concentration of domains per capita, Poland is ahead of Japan , the Republic of Korea , France and Spain [1] .
In 2011, 96% of .pl domain names consisted of less than 20 characters, and the most popular “length” of a domain name was 8 characters [2] . In the second quarter of 2011, 8 domain names consisting of 63 characters were registered [2] .
In the second quarter of 2011, over 94% of .pl domains were registered by residents of Poland [2] . The remaining 15 thousand domains belonged to legal entities outside Poland, of which 8.9 thousand registrations were made by residents of the United States, 1.1 thousand by Great Britain, 934 by Germany, 519 by Cyprus and 452 by the Netherlands, more than 200 domains were registered by representatives of France, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Australia [2] .
At the end of June 2011, the number of re-registrations in the Polish domain was 76% [2] .
Registration Cost
For 2012, the cost of initial registration of domains in the .pl zone was 9.90 PLN ( Polish zloty ) per year, and the cost of renewal was 40 PLN [1] .
For third level domains, it was as follows [1] :
- 7.40 PLN per name in specialized second-level domains (СOM.PL, NET.PL, etc.) (extension - 30 PLN);
- 2.40 PLN per domain name in geographic subdomains (WAW.PL, etc.) (extension - 10 PLN).
Domain Dispute Resolution Procedure
Disputes over the .pl domain are resolved by the Arbitration or any other court [1] .
