Alexey Filippovich Kar ( 1680 - 1756 ) - Russian statesman and military leader, state adviser .
Biography
Alexei Kara's father was a colonel. From an early age, Alexei served in his regiment. In 1693, Kar was promoted to ensign by the future generalissimo Alexei Shein . Kar participated in the Azov campaigns of Peter I and the war with Sweden . He took part in the capture of Narva , Yamburg and Koporye . In 1709 he participated in the Little Russian campaign, was wounded in the battle of Poltava . He was promoted to majors, fought in Finland. In 1741 he switched to civil service. In 1742, with the rank of state adviser, he headed the Salt Office [1] , where he worked until his death. His son Vasily Kar participated in the suppression of the Pugachev uprising , but unsuccessfully.
