Head of the Department of Surgery № 1, Rostov Medical University. Board member of the All-Russian Society of Angiologists and Vascular Surgeons and a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Phlebologists of Russia.

Biography
Ivan Ivanovich Katelnitsky was born in 1946. In 1971 he graduated from the Rostov Medical Institute (now Rostov State Medical University). After graduation, he worked as a surgeon in an emergency hospital. In his student years he worked in a student’s scientific circle at the department of hospital surgery, where he worked in experimental transplant surgery, was engaged in operations on vessels, transplantation of the liver and kidneys. In 1973, Ivan Ivanovich Katelnitsky was invited to continue his studies at the department of hospital surgery by professor Peter Petrovich Kovalenko , who later became his mentor and supervisor. Under the guidance of Professor Ivan Ivanovich defended his thesis on the issues of preservation and transplantation of blood vessels. He continued to work in the department of vascular surgery. For a long time he is the head of the department of surgery at the Rostov Medical University.
Since 1991, at the same time with scientific work and surgery, he has been teaching at the medical university.
In 1995, Ivan Ivanovich Katelnitsky defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Surgical treatment of atherosclerotic lesions of the abdominal aorta, iliac and renal arteries" [1] . He received the degree of doctor of medical sciences and the title of professor.
Area of scientific interests: reconstructive-restorative operations on abdominal organs, lungs, vessels, esophagus.
Ivan Ivanovich Katelnitsky has 2 patents for inventions, is the author of about 380 scientific papers. Under the supervision of Professor I. Kelitnitsky, 10 Ph.D. theses were prepared and defended at various times.
