Lynne E. Makuat ( Lynne Elizabeth Maquat , born 1952) is an American biochemist and molecular biologist, an RNA researcher. He is a professor at the University of Rochester and the founding director of its Center for RNA Biology, a member of the US National Academy of Sciences (2011) and the Medical Academy (2017) [1] .

She graduated from the University of Connecticut (Bachelor of Biology, 1974). She received her Ph.D. in biochemistry in 1979 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
She entered the medical center of the University of Rochester after 18 years at the , and also teaches at the Wilmot Cancer Institute of this center.
Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (both since 2006). A member of the RNA Society since its foundation in 1993 and its president in 2006-2007.
The author of more than 150 works, including reviews, peer-reviewed publications.
