The Grand Hotel is an American drama television series that is an adaptation of the Spanish television series of the same name . The premiere of the series in the United States is planned on the ABC channel, in Canada on CTV and in Russia on the Sony Channel on June 17, 2019 [1] . The main difference from the Spanish television series is that the action will not take place in 1905 , but in our time.

Story
Take a look at the professional and personal lives of people working in a family hotel in Miami Beach. The charismatic Santiago Mendoza owns the hotel, and his glamorous second wife, Gigi and their grown children enjoy trophies of success. The rich and beautiful guests bathe in luxury, but scandals, escalation of debts and explosive secrets are hidden under perfect looks.

Production
Development
On November 21, 2017, it was announced that ABC was developing an American adaptation of the Spanish series Grand Hotel . The script for the pilot episode was to be written by Brian Tanen, who was also appointed executive producer along with Eva Longoria , Ben Spector, Oliver Bachert and Christian Gokel. The pilot was to be developed by ABC Studios and UnveliEVAble Entertainment [5] . On February 2, 2018, it was announced that the production of the pilot episode was ordered by ABC [6] .
On May 11, 2018, it was announced that ABC had ordered the production of the series. In addition, it was reported that Ramon Campos and Teresa Fernandez-Valdez, producers of the original Spanish series, joined the series as executive producers [7] . A few days later, it was announced that the series would premiere in the spring of 2019 as a mid-season replacement [8] .
On December 12, 2018, it was announced that the series would be rescheduled from the middle of the season and would instead make its debut during the summer season with a premiere date of June 17, 2019. The show is scheduled weekly on Mondays at 22:00. [9]
Casting
In February 2018, it was announced that Roselyn Sanchez and Chris Warren joined the core cast of the pilot episode. In March 2018, it became known that Demian Bichir , Wendy Raquel Robinson , Shalim Ortiz, Denis Tonz, Anne Winters , Brian Craig, Lincoln Younes , Feliz Ramirez and Justina Adorno were included in the main roles of the pilot. In September 2018, it was announced that Eva Longoria would appear on the series as an invited guest, and that Genclaros Canela would be in the minor cast. [10] [11]
On November 15, 2018, it became known that John Marshall Jones, Richard Burgi and Adrian Pasdar will play in the series of minor characters. [12] In December 2018, it was announced that Katie Sagal , Freddie Stroma, and Ken Kirby joined the minor cast. [13] [14]
Shooting
The pilot episode was shot in March 2018 at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach , Florida . [15]

March 15, 2018 ABC released the first official trailer of the series [16] .
