Vadim Ippolitovich Baptizmansky - was born in Odessa in 1918 . He died on March 17, 1995 . Ukrainian metallurgist, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine . Head of the Department of Steel Metallurgy of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine [1] . In 1939, in the Red Army. At the beginning of 1942, he fought on the Kalinin Front in the p185 regiment of the 257th rifle division. In 1942, he fought in 204 airborne brigade. In 1942, he was deputy commander of a rifle-parachute company of an airborne battalion. In the early 1950s, a discussion arose in the Steel magazine on the possibility of reducing the manganese content in cast iron, and thereby refusing to support a certain manganese content in the open-hearth smelting process, in which, together with V. I. Yavoysky and V. I. Baptizmansky EI Zarvin took part, who on the basis of production experiments showed the inappropriateness of the existing technology [2] . Doctor of Technical Sciences.
