Diamond Mining
The first diamonds discovered in Botswana were three small stones discovered in 1959 by the Central African Selection Fund on the banks of the Motlouce River. The group that discovered the diamonds explored the river up to its headwaters, but did not find a likely source of stones. In 2004, geologist Leon Daniels discovered a crustal deformation extending from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe to southern Botswana. He suggested that before the formation of the deformation, the Motlouce river could begin much westward. In the end, he found a huge diamond deposit [7] .
