Zaprešić [ˈzâːpreʃitɕ] is a town in Croatia , in the Zagreb County . The population is 17,538 people in the city itself and 23,125 people in the administrative district of the city of Zaprešić (census 2001). General Information
Zaprešić, part of Greater Zagreb , is located 13 kilometers west of the capital. 25 kilometers to the west is the border with Slovenia .
Zaprešić passes through the A2 highway from Zagreb to Matzel and further to Slovenia , the road from Zagreb to the Slovenian city of Brežice and further to Ljubljana and the Zagreb-Ljubljana railway.
The city is located in a flat area, in the valley of the Sava , two kilometers north of the river itself. From the east and west, two more rivers flow from the city - the tributaries of the Sava; in the west - Sutla , in the east - Krapina . In Zapresiche are several industrial enterprises.
Not far from the city in the village of Novi Dvori is the tomb of Josip Jelačić , the famous Croatian statesman.
Administrative division
Zaprešić consists of nine villages ( Horv. Naselje ): Hrushevets Kuplienski (Hruševec Kupljenski), Ivanec Bistranski (Ivanec Bistranski), Yablanovets (Jablanovec), Kupljenovo, Luzhnyte (Lužn), Lushnzeyte, Z. Shibice (Šibice) and, the largest, Zaprešić. The population of Zapresic village is 17,538 people according to the 2001 census, 20,733 people according to the estimates of the Zagreb Police (Zaprešić District). In addition to Zaprešić, large villages are Yablanovets (1,342 people) and Poyatno (1,157 people). [one]
