Biography

From 1897 to 1902, Ernst Böhm was a student at the universities of Leipzig and Berlin , where he studied history, German studies , philosophy, pedagogy and geography. In 1902, in Leipzig, he defended his dissertation on the theme “Research of the political testament of Richelieu. Disputes about authenticity ”(Studien zum politischen Testament Richelieus. Der Streit um die Echtheit) and became a candidate of science. After this, Boehm worked as a teacher.

In 1905, Ernst Böhm became a teacher at the Saxon State Gymnasium Sankt Afra, and the following year he married Anna Doerstling. In the end, Boehm taught until 1918, after which he became a referent in the Food and War Administration (Kriegsernährungsamt) in Berlin, and then at the Saxon Ministry of Economics. After that, he served as head of the press service of the Government of Saxony. In 1919 he worked in the Chancellery of the Government of Saxony (Regierungsrat), and then in the Supreme Council (Oberregierungsrat); He remained in this post until 1923.

In 1923, Ernst Böhm became the principal of the school at Wettiner Gymnasium, where he worked until 1928, after which he became director of the Seminars für praktische Pädagogik at the University of Leipzig. The following year, 1929, he became an honorary professor at the Faculty of Philosophy. After the rise of the National Socialists , on November 11, 1933, Ernst Böhm was among the more than 900 scholars and professors of German universities and universities who signed the " Statement of professors on the support of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist State " ..

Between 1922 and 1932, Boehm was a member of the Three Swords Masonic Lodge (Zu den drei Schwertern und Asträa zur grünenden Raute). In 1938, he retired early. In 1945, at the age of 67, Ernst Böhm committed suicide.

In 1906-1910, Boehm was a member of the German Conservative Party , and then - until 1918 - he was a member of the National Liberal Party (NLP). After that, he joined the German People's Party (DVP), from which he left in 1931, becoming a member of the German National People's Party (DNVP), in which he remained until its dissolution in 1933.
