Margaret "Maggie" Ekford (born November 21, 1985 ), better known under the pseudonym Ruelle / Ruell / Ruel , is an American singer and songwriter in the electro-pop genre. [1] Her compositions were used in many television shows, and her song was also used in the opening credits for the television series The Twilight Hunters (“This Is the Hunt”) [2] [3] [4] and in the TV series The Shannara Chronicle (“Until We Go Down "). Early life and education
Maggie is the middle child in a family with three daughters. She grew up in Hattiesburg , Mississippi and attended a private Christian high school. She also attended a music school in Sydney , Australia . [9] Ruelle is now professionally based in Nashville , Tennessee . [1] Ecford accepted the French word “Ruelle” as a stage name because she likes the way it exudes a sense of darkness and mystery, and also has several meanings, including “room” and “wolf”. [9]
Music
Although Nashville is better known as the center of country and rock and roll music , Maggie Ekford's first two albums - For What It's Worth (2010) and Show and Tell (2012) - came out under her own name, were realized in the genre of indie pop . [10] [2] [1] Then she took on her stage name “Ruelle” and presented a change in the musical genre , moving closer to electro-pop with dark and cinematic styles in EPs Up in Flames (2015), Madness (2016) and "Rival" (2017). Ruelle's first televised location was a song on the Japanese commercial iPad release. [9] In addition to the aforementioned songs for the series The Shadowhunters and The Shannara Chronicles , Ruelle songs have also been widely used in various prime time TV shows, including Dancing with the Stars (USA) , Challenge XXX: Dirty 30 , Witness , Guilty , How escape punishment for murder , Left , Ancient , Pretty little liars , Quantico , Recklessness , Kingdom , Retribution , Scream , Sleepy Hollow , So you think you can dance , Teen Wolf , The Vampire Diaries , The Walking Dead , and Winona Earp . Ruelle introduced two trailers [13] and a soundtrack [14] specifically for the LOFT film, as well as trailers for the films Very Bad Moms , [15] The Time Matrix , [16] Jones Free State , [15] and Spies Next Door . [15] Her song “Game of Survival” is featured in the trailer for 13 of the reasons why , and the song “Madness” in the series Siren . The trailer for the series Ghost Tower uses the song Rivals .
Ruelle collaborated with electronic music producer Ki: Theory , and also used his vocals in her song “Bringing Me Down”. [17] [18] [19]
The best Ruelle song on Billboard charts is “I Get to Love You,” which ranked 15th on Spotify Viral 50 on March 5, 2016. [20]
