Laba, Boris Mikhailovich

Boris Mikhailovich Laba ( October 22, 1937 , the village of Turia Paseka, now Perechinsky district of the Transcarpathian region - January 10, 2011 , Kiev) - Ukrainian choir conductor, composer, teacher. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1979). Laureate of the State Prize of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (1995).

Biography

Boris Mikhailovich Laba was born on October 22, 1937 in the village of Turya Paseka, now Perechinsky district of Transcarpathian region. In 1961 he graduated from the Uzhhorod College of Music as a teacher P. Gudz. In 1966 he graduated from the Kiev Conservatory (now the P.I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine ) in the class of conducting the teacher A. Minkovsky and the composition class A. Shtogarenko.

Since 1960, he worked as a methodologist at the regional House of Folk Arts in the city of Uzhgorod , since 1965 he was the choirmaster of the Bukovinsky Song and Dance Ensemble of the Chernivtsi Regional Philharmonic, since 1966 he was the choirmaster of the State Honored Chapel of Bandura Players of Ukraine, and since 1970 he was the choirmaster of the Honored Academic Folk Choir named after him. G. Ropes.

At the same time, from 1975 to 1988, he worked as a teacher at the Kiev Institute of Culture (now the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts ). From 1988 to 2005 - Artistic Director of the Song and Dance Ensemble "Slavnotsvit" p. Glorious Razdolnensky district of Crimea. Under the direction of Boris Mikhailovich Laba, the choir received the title of laureate of the 1st All-Ukrainian competition of song and dance ensemble (Rivne, 1992), a diploma winner of several Crimean amateur art contests.

Boris Mikhailovich Laba died on January 10, 2011 in Kiev at the age of 74 years.

  • “Do Not Die Nicol”, words of I. Kotlyarevsky (1990);
  • “Our soul does not die,” the words of T. Shevchenko (1994);
  • “Duma of the Homeland,” the words of the author (2002).

for choir, bells and percussion :

  • “Heroic Liturgy-Symphony” (“Our Father”, “gives God hope”, “Weeping of Jeremiah”, “Truth and Power Only in the Lord”; biblical text, 1996).

for choir :

  • choral poem “Behind the Zozulenka” (1972);
  • choral painting “A Reed Over a Pond in the Evening” (1980, both - words of T. Shevchenko);
  • solemn poem “For the sake of the world we create life” (1983);
  • "Watercolors of the Carpathians" (1987), both are the words of the author.

Works for bandura, processing of Ukrainian folk songs (over 50).
