Inspired by Bunsenlabs, ArchLabs staff Matthew Dobson and Brett Stevens began building the basics of ArchLabs in early January 2017 as an alternative to Arch Linux. The first release was released on January 24, 2017 .
The release of versions from 3.0 to 5.0 was criticized for breaking down from too many applications, and for suffering from a large ISO size. This led to a reorientation of the team to minimalism and the creation of a light ISO. The Minimo release was the first of this minimal release with changes from the traditional Openbox panel, Tint2 to Polybar [4] . Also in this release, the Al-Hello script was added, which was part of the distribution from BunsenLabs.
Al-Hello is a post-script that helps the user customize their desktop with many popular applications and utilities. This helped minimize the ISO for download.
The 2018.02 release introduces the new improved Al-Hello welcome script and many add-ons and enhancements for ArchLabs.
