Short-winged grebe [1] ( lat. Rollandia microptera ) is a species of waterfowl from the family of grebe (Podicipedida). Lost the ability to fly. The bulk of the population lives on Lake Titicaca and in several bodies of water adjacent to it in Peru and Bolivia . The position of the species is recognized as threatened [2] . Previously, the species was isolated into the monotypic genus Centropelma [1] .

The basis of the diet is fish. In this case, the length of production should be less than about 15 cm.
Information about the breeding of these birds is not yet accurate enough. It is believed that couples attempt to raise chicks every year, and the brood consists of two chicks, but can reach four. Most likely, there is no clear breeding season, however, in December a special activity of grebes in this area was noticed. Young birds are likely to become adults before they reach the age of one year.
