Cartilaginous rib knife
A cartilaginous rib knife [1] is an anatomical instrument used to dissect cartilage and other dense tissues during autopsy .
Description
The cartilaginous rib knife consists of a massive, often flattened, handle, a wide neck, a short blade and a slightly curved cutting edge. The width of the blade is quite large, relative to the length of the knife, in shape resembles the blade of a large abdominal scalpel . Near the tip, the cutting edge bends steeply; sometimes there is an arcuate depression from the side of the pickaxe.
The total length of the knives is 205 mm, the working part is 75 mm.
Included in the standard sectional kit .
