He graduated from the Central Asian State University (1948). In 1947-1952 - teacher of the Tashkent Textile College, from 1953 to 1959 - Assistant Professor of High Mathematics, Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization.
From 1960, he worked at the Institute of Mechanics and Seismic Resistance of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR: research assistant, deputy head, from 1961 head of the hydrodynamic laboratory, from 1962 to 1963 director of the institute, from 1966 to 1970 - deputy. director of science.
Doctor of Technical Sciences (1971), Professor (1971). Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR (1974) (mechanics of multiphase media).
Based on the mechanical Landau-Rakhmatulin model and the model of viscous-plastic media, A. A. Ilyushin developed a hydrodynamic model of mixtures consisting of viscous-plastic, viscous, and ideal media with different rheological properties, which is called the Rakhmatulin-Fayzullaev model.
