Biography

Valentina Mikhailovna Borisova was born on July 1, 1919 in Omsk [1] .

In 1941 she graduated from the Omsk State Medical Institute. M. I. Kalinina [1] .

During the Great Patriotic War , while working in an evacuation hospital , she operated on many seriously wounded [1] [2] . In 1943, without receiving the sanction of the chief surgeon, she successfully performed a complex operation on a cult in the area of ​​the right knee joint of the world's first woman tank driver Maria Lagunova [1] .

In 1946, Borisova-Khromenko was transferred by the surgeon to the urological department of evacuation hospital No. 1494 [2] .

In 1947 she moved to Barnaul , where she worked as a resident of the Barnaul City Hospital, then as the head of the surgical and urological departments [1] . In 1957, she moved to work as an assistant in a urology course at the Department of Faculty Surgery at the Altai State Medical Institute (ASMU) [2] , where she worked for thirty years, going from assistant chair to assistant professor and head of the urology course. Subsequently, the head of the Department of Urology and Nephrology of the AGMU, Professor Alexander Neymark, who studied under Borisova-Khromenko, called her the founder of Altai urology [3] .

In 1957, Valentina Mikhailova Borisova-Khromenko was awarded the honorary title “ Honored Doctor of the RSFSR ” [1] for merits in organizing urological care for patients in the Altai Territory.

Scientific and social activities

  • She was a member of the editorial board of the Big Medical Encyclopedia in the section "Urology and Nephrology".
