Biography
He was a samurai, born in Izumo, at the end of the Edo period . Fukuda Hiroshi was born in Izumo (modern Shimane Prefecture , in the Chugoku region). In his youth he wanted to become a doctor. However, he left his clan to study the style of Kosi Naganum’s military strategy in Edo. He was adopted by the Takeda family while studying in Edo. The Takeda were vassals of the Aizu clan. He studied at the doctor. He studied the doctrines of Wang Yang-Ming , which attracted people who opposed the shogunate. Takeda was arrested, but he managed to escape from Izumo province to Edo, where he continued anti-government activities. He was the commander of the Tengu- detachment, the murderer of Elder Yi Naosuke in 1860. In Shinsangumi Takeda came in 1863 through familiarity with Kondo. When and how they met, is unknown. At first he was a military adviser. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeda_Kanryūsai
Shinsangumi
He apparently got along well with the commander Shinsangumi Kanryusai, but he did not have a good relationship with other people in the squadron. In 1864, Takeda helped settle a quarrel between Nagakura and Kondo, when Nagakura filed a complaint against the commander. In the same year, with the arrival of Shinsengumi Ito Casitaro, who was also in Tengu for some time, Takedu was demoted to the commander of the fifth detachment. The position of military adviser was taken by Ito, who knew the western military strategy. Takeda also studied only traditional Japanese. In addition, Shinsengumi Kanryusai taught literature and culture, as well as military strategy. There is evidence that Takeda wanted to join Ito’s group, but at the time of the last departure he was far away, and then it was too late.
When it became clear that bakufu could not win, Takeda was going to leave Shinsengumi and join the Satsuma clan. For some time he conducted sentences with them, and when everything was decided, he asked Kondo to go home. Kondo and Hijikata were already aware of the Takeda negotiations with the Satsuma clan. There is a version that Saburo Magoshi reported to them about this, a young man who had previously complained to Hijikate that Takeda oppressed him for refusing to respond to his "attention." He allegedly saw Kanryusai leaving at night from Satsuma’s residence. Perhaps, but Saburo back in 1864 or even in 1863, he left the detachment and it is not known for certain whether he was in the capital at all at that time. One way or another, but the command of Shinsangumi was aware of Takeda’s plans. When it was revealed a couple of days later that Takeda was haggling with opium and collecting tribute from small merchants Mibu (right under the noses of the command!), It was decided to give him the opportunity to leave with honor. The command agreed to let Kanryusai go on vacation, but the decision about his death was already made.
A day later, Kondo and Hijkikat offered Kanryusay to have dinner together and decide on his departure from Shinsengumi. In the midst of dinner, Saito and Nagakura suddenly appeared. Takeda felt unwell, especially after Kondo’s phrase: “Takeda-san, I suggest we talk about your leaving with Saito-san” (some sources believe that it was said by Hijkata). Saito left the tavern after Takeda and tried to convince him to do seppuku. He refused and offered to solve the case by a more radical method. Judging by the memoirs of Nagakura, Saito returned a quarter of an hour later (and this despite the fact that they fought on the Dzenitori Bridge, which was half a kilometer away). http://www.diary.ru/~Tenvsumerkax/p184518824.htm?oam
Death
There are two options regarding the date of death of Takeda:
1. November 5 (September 28-lk.) 1866. If, as indicated almost everywhere, Takedu was killed by Saito Hajime , then this date is more likely. Saito has not yet left Shinsengumi with Ito. For this date, the version that Takedu was killed after a farewell party at headquarters is appropriate. Saito and Sinohara went to see him off on the pretext that he was drunk and would not come himself. On the Zenitori Bridge, Saito killed him.
2. July 23 (June 22 -k) 1867. At that time, Saito was no longer in Shinsengumi. However, this still does not exclude his participation in the murder of Kanrusay, because The Shinsangumi and Ito squad externally maintained friendly relations. In addition, there is a version that Saito received an order to kill Takedu from both Kondo and Ito. Ito himself conducted secret negotiations with the Satsuma clan, and he did not need an extra witness at all. In any case, the witness of the murder is Shinohara Tainosin. Some even claim that Takedu was killed by him.
