Civil War

On October 23, 1918, he was enlisted by the Red Army in the 43rd working regiment. In 1919 he studied at artillery courses. In April-October 1920, as the chief of communications and intelligence of the 2nd separate field artillery battalion of the 16th Army of the Western Front, he participated in military operations against Poland. From December 1920 to June 1921, as the head of intelligence of the 6th artillery division, he participated in hostilities as part of the South-Western Front.

Further Service

In June - October 1922 he commanded a company in the preparatory school of the Red Army. From October 1922 to July 1923 he studied at the school of the Red Air Fleet in the city of Yegoryevsk. From July 1923 to September 1924 he studied at the 1st Military Pilot School in Sevastopol. From September 1924 to July 1925 he studied at refresher courses at the school of observer pilots. In July-November 1925 he studied at the Serpukhov military school of air combat. After graduation, he served in the years 1925-1926 as an observer pilot in the 8th separate reconnaissance air squadron. In 1926-1928, as a senior observer pilot as part of the 30th squadron, he participated in battles with the Basmachi in Turkmenistan and was shell-shocked in July 1928 in an airplane accident. In 1928-1931 he studied at the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . In 1931-1932 he held the position of assistant to the chief of the sector of the 1st Air Force Red Army Directorate. In 1932-1935, he held the post of chief of the 2nd sector of the Office of the Red Army Air Force Headquarters. In 1935-1936, the chief of staff of the 106th Marine Heavy Bomber Aviation Brigade, Black Sea Fleet . In 1936-1938, Colonel Quade held the post of Chief of Staff of the Air Force of the Pacific Fleet . In March-July 1938 and April-September 1939 he taught at the MV Frunze Military Academy. He was awarded the medal "XX years of the Red Army" . In November-December 1939, it was at the disposal of the People’s Commissariat of the Navy .

Participation in the Soviet-Finnish War

As chief of staff of the Baltic Fleet Air Force, he participated in the Soviet-Finnish War and on April 21, 1940, was awarded the Order of Lenin for the exemplary fulfillment of the combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the Finnish White Guard and courage shown at the same time. On April 26, 1940, the head of the 1st (operational) department of the air force headquarters of the RKKF Colonel P. P. Kvade was awarded the rank of brigade commander [1] , and on July 4, 1940 - the rank of major general of aviation [2] .

World War II

On June 29, 1941, Kvade was dismissed from the post of chief of staff of the Navy Air Force and appointed head of the Naval Aviation Technical School named after V.M. Molotova . From June 1942 to January 1943, as the deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet Air Force, he commanded the Naval Aviation Group of the Novorossiysk Defensive Region. In January-July 1943, as chief of staff of the Black Sea Fleet Air Force, he took part in the battle for the Caucasus. May 31, 1943 "for the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the Command at the front of the struggle against the fascist invaders and the valor and courage shown" was awarded the Order of the Red Banner [3] . In July-October 1943 he commanded the naval preparatory aviation school. In 1943-1946 he held the position of chief of the Higher Officer Courses of the Navy Air Force in Mozdok. “For Long-Term and Impeccable Service” he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner [4] on November 3, 1944, and the Order of Lenin on February 22, 1945 [5] .

Post-war period

After the end of World War II, Major General P.P. Kvade taught at the Naval Academy , where in 1946-1947 he held the position of Deputy Head of the Department of Naval Aviation and Air Defense, in 1947-1950 - Head of the Department of Naval Aviation and Air Defense and in 1951 -1960 years - operational use of the Air Force. In 1954, P.P. Kvade was awarded the degree of Doctor of Naval Sciences, and the next year the title of professor . In 1958, P. P. Kvade was awarded the honorary title “Honored Scientist of the RSFSR”.

Retired since 1960. In 1961-1970, he headed the section on the history of aviation and cosmonautics of the Leningrad branch of the Institute of Economics and Economics.

He died in Leningrad, was buried at the Serafimovsky cemetery.

Family

Wife: Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Kvade (Labzova) - during the Great Patriotic War, she served as clerk of the Higher Officer Courses of the Navy Air Force. She was awarded the medal "For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."
