Biography

Reinhold Max Eichler was born on March 4, 1872 in Hubertusburg, Muchen (Saxony); he was the son of a farmer. Initially, from 1889 to 1893, Eichler studied at the Dresden Academy of Arts ; then he moved to Munich and began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in the painting class of Paul Hecker . In 1896, Eichler became an employee of the magazines Jugend and Simplicissimus , for which he created illustrations.

In 1899, Reinhold Max Eichler became part of the Scholle Association of Artists, which also included Max Feldbauer , Walter Georgi , Leo Putz , Fritz Erler and others. Since 1903, Eichler worked exclusively for Jugend Magazine. As a main motive for his work, Eichler chose mainly female nudity and landscape (most often he painted the Bavarian region in the area of Holzhausen am Ammersee), as well as heroic (battle) scenes. At the end of his life, he received the title of professor. Eichler's works are presented in museums and galleries, including the National Gallery "Frühling" (Berlin), the City Museum in Landsberg am Lech, the State Graphic Assembly in Munich and others.
