Nikolai Pochivalin (April 7, 1921, p. Banichi , Ukraine - January 25, 1988, Penza ) - Russian Soviet poet, prose writer, essayist, member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR, member of the Union of Soviet Writers, member of the Great Patriotic War.

Biography
Born April 7, 1921 in the village. Banichi (now Sumy region of Ukraine). Son of a forester. In 1928, the family moved to a. Pospelovka of the Penza province - a place that Nikolai Mikhailovich himself considered his homeland. He studied at the Kuznetsk High School. The first poems and stories were published in the Kuznetsk city newspaper.
During the Great Patriotic War - an employee of the army press.
After the war, he worked on the construction of the Moscow metro, then - a journalist in Kazakhstan and Siberia, published in regional and national newspapers.
Since 1953, a professional writer. The first books: "Happiness" (1951), "Ordinary People" (1951), "Siberian Notebook" (1954). The first major story "Youth" (1954) is about military journalists, in many ways autobiographical.
Total published 60 books, including collections of poems and plays. The story "After the Winter" (1958) is translated into Hungarian, "Our Years Are Flying" (1963) - into Bulgarian.
He died on January 25, 1988 in the city of Penza at the 67th year of life.
He was buried on one of the central avenues of the New-West cemetery in Penza.

Memorial
On June 28, 2012, a memorial plaque was opened in Penza to the writer Nikolai Mikhailovich Pochivalin at apartment building number 72 on Volodarsky Street , where he lived and worked in 1964-1988. [3]
