Biography
Nikolai Karapetyants was born on January 22, 1942 in Rostov-on-Don . In 1959 he graduated from high school and entered the Physics and Mathematics Department of Rostov State University . During this period, Professor F. D. Gakhov taught at the university, who created the department of differential equations, and a seminar on functional analysis was held at the faculty itself. The seminar was led by M. G. Khaplanov, and I. I. Vorovich [1] .
While studying at the university, Nikolai Karapetyants conducted research, his first work related to the theory of boundary value problems of analytic functions in spaces of generalized functions. It was made in the fifth year of study and published in 1965. After graduation, Nikolai Karapetovich entered graduate school. But the training had to be interrupted due to draft in the army. A year later, he was demobilized and continued his studies in graduate school, its leader was Professor V. S. Rogozhin [1] .
In 1969, Nikolai Karapetyants defended his thesis. He began to work at the Department of Differential Equations of Rostov State University. Initially, as an assistant, over time, took the post of professor, was the head of the department [1] .
Together with Stefan Georgievich Samko wrote a monograph "Equations with involutive operators and their applications" [2] .
From 1998 to 2005 he was the head of the department of differential and integral equations of Rostov State University [1] .
In 1989, in Tbilisi, Nikolai Karapetyants at the Institute of Mathematics named after A. M. Razmadze , defended his doctoral dissertation "Integral convolution operators with homogeneous kernels with variable coefficients" [1] .
Nikolai Karapetyants was one of the first scientists who began research in the field of normalization of normally insoluble operators. He spoke at conferences, in Armenia , Russia , Germany , Mexico , Belarus , Portugal [1] .
Nikolai Karapetovich Karapetyants died in 2005 [1] .
