Agnesh Rapai (born March 13, 1952 in Szekszard ) is a Hungarian poet, writer and translator.

Biography

Agnesh Rapai was born March 13, 1952 in Szekszard, Hungary , in the family of Gyula Rapai and Gati Piroski, Agnes also has a sister, Marta. Rapai spent her childhood in Budapest , Szekszard and Pec .

In 1975, she graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University , where she studied drama [1] . After graduation, she worked at the Institute of Social Sciences at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences . Since 1989, Rapai has been engaged in independent literary activities.

Rapai published five poetry collections in Hungary, and her works were published in Switzerland , including collections and anthologies such as the Frauenfeld Lyric Days, Poetic Agenda and Hungarian Poets. All of her publications in German were translated by Andras Schardor.

In 1995, Rapai received the Rosenthal Institute of Holocaust Research Award. In 1996, she was also awarded the Hungarian Art Fund, and in 1999 received the Janos Arani Prize.

In 1997, Rapai took part in the International Poetry Festival in Frauenfeld , Switzerland. In 1999, Hungary was an honored guest at the Frankfurt Book Fair (a fair dedicated to Hungarian literature). In this regard, her second collection of poems was published in German [2] . In 2007, Rapai participated in the ninth annual festival of Prague International Poetry Days.

Since 2007, Rapai has been a member of the board of ARTISJUS (Hungarian Copyright Office). She is also a member of the Association of Fiction [3] , the Hungarian National Association of Creative Artists and the Hungarian PEN Club .
